This blog contains articles I have written but not published. They are concerned with literary criticism, literary theory, religion, the history of ideas, and the joys and complexities of the English language. I wrote them using the word processing program Nota Bene and saved them in rtf. NB's formatting commands are not always obeyed, however, and the page is less orderly than I would desire.
Caveat lector! Let the reader beware! I hold positions that will offend conservative Christians--will offend, indeed, some who are not conservative. I also take seriously Freud, Nietzsche, and Marx, and I give myself permission to use words and images that will offend readers of a delicate sensibility.
